Principal's Opening of School Message 2023
August 7, 2023
Hello Huffman Parents and Students, this is Principal Lyons.
Welcome back to another wonderful school year in Birmingham City Schools. I am very excited about the opportunities that this year holds for the scholars at Huffman High School. This year all students grades 9-12 will start school in-person August 7, 2023. We want your child ready on day one, so please make sure they have completed their registration. It is very important that registration is completed online before your child returns to school. If you need assistance with registration, please call the school at (205) 231-5000.
On day one and throughout the school year, all students should report to school no later than 8:30am with school ending at 3:40pm. We are requesting on day one that all students that are new or returning use the bus line entrance by the cafeteria to enter the school. Parents, please remember no cars are allowed on the bus line during morning arrival and school dismissal. Freshman parents or parents of new students should park their vehicles in the student parking lot facing Huffman Road if you plan on accompanying your child into the school.
Once students have entered the school, all 9th graders will report to the competition gym left side, all 10th graders will report to the competition gym right side, all 11th graders will report to the auditorium left side, and all 12th graders will report to the auditorium right side. Once students are seated, homeroom teachers will call for individual students to follow them to receive their class schedule. Students that are new and do no have a schedule will be called for by the counselors to receive a schedule.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we try to maintain the safest environment for our young scholars. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Remember, It's a Great Day to be a Viking!
Sincerely,
Dr. John C. Lyons, Jr.
