The IT Department is responsible for providing the infrastructure that supports automation. It manages the network and 'it's operating systems. It assists the academic and business units of the district by providing them the functionality they request.
The IT department implements and facilitates the flow of information, it doesn't create the policy that defines which information is correct or accessible to others.
Our Major Functions
Governance. We implement operational parameters for the business and academic units regarding the use of enterprise systems, architecture, and networks. Protecting the master data is based on workflow processes that integrate business rules and subject matter.
Infrastructure. We manage the hardware components, the network, the circuitry, and all other equipment necessary to make an enterprise system function according to the established need.
Functionality. We create and maintain operational applications; developing, securing, and storing electronic data that belongs to the district; and assist in the use of enterprise software and data management processes to all functional areas of the district.
Network Responsibilities
We evaluate and install the proper hardware and software necessary to keep the network functioning properly. Budgets that are allocated and approved by the district authority are strictly adheared to and audited. We make sure that the equipment and service investments optimally serve the needs of the district.
Our network is complex. In addition to staying current on trends within business technology, ongoing technical training is required to adequately handle the common issues that arise in maintaining such an environment. We consult with demonstrated technical experts on a range of network and systems topics.
Telephony
New forms of electronic communications are replacing older technology. Point to point telephony, conferenced video, network shares, electronic mail (email), and secure cloud services are the norm. The IT department has implemented all of these, and fully understand how these systems work and interact with each other. The department strives to ensure that these systems remain operational at all times.
District Website
The IT department is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure that supports the district website.
Technical Support
The IT department provides this service for all users who need access to the district's computer systems. This might entail installing new software or hardware, repairing hardware that has become faulty, advising staff in the use of new software, and troubleshooting problems with the system or with an individual's computer.
