If you ever dreamed of running a restaurant or hotel, helping people plan trips around the world,
being involved in big events such as the Crawfish Boil, or managing a football stadium, you were
imagining yourself in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries: hospitality and tourism and
the BCS Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT) may be just the place for you to fulfill your
dreams.
The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism is more than a set of elective courses. Student and teachers
at the AOHT are hands on, taking regular field trips to local businesses and developing a visitor
website for the city.
The BCS Academy of Hospitality and Tourism is where you want to be if you’re interested in and
exciting career in any of these areas (and this is only a few of them!):
FRESHMEN in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism begin to build a foundation for understanding
the business world with Business Technology Applications.
In your SOPHOMORE year, you’ll be introduced to industry principles with Hospitality and Tourism.
In your JUNIOR year, you will be introduced to a keystone of the hospitality and tourism industry
with Culinary Arts I. The following summer, all AOHT students participate in internships with
area businesses in the hospitality and tourism industry. Many of these internships are paid and a
few even lead to full-time employment. The Junior summer internship is an excellent experience
and is an excellent addition to your college application if you decide to take your studies further.
As a SENIOR in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism you will learn about the finer points of
Culinary Arts with Culinary Arts II, whetting your appetite for furthering your pursuit of a career
in this exciting and fast-growing industry!
