Coach Demetrius Turner is entering his nineteenth year as Head Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Turner served as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Smith Middle School for three years, 2001-2003. Under his helm, Smith Basketball became a dominate force in Birmingham Middle School Basketball, he had a career record of 41-11 and Back-to-Back Championships.

As Woodlawn’s Head Varsity Basketball Coach, Coach Turner currently has 289 career wins and is only 11 short of 300 victories. Coach Turner has guided his teams to  Birmingham City Championships in 2008, 2011, and 2014, a Regional Semi-Final appearance in 2013, Regional Finalist in 2009 and 2011, Regional Champions in 2015 and a Final Four appearance in 2015. Coach Turner has helped place over 25 players to the collegiate level.

Coach Turner was named Birmingham News North/East Coach of the Year 2008-2009, Birmingham Athletic Partnership (BAP) Coach of the Year 2014-2015.
