Welcome to the Academy - the John Herbert Phillips Academy - where children are encouraged to fulfill their dreams. Located in a beautifully restored historic building in downtown Birmingham.

J.H.Phillips Academy provides a curriculum from  Pre-K through 8th grade in which students are engaged in a wide range of learning activities. Our rigorous curriculum of academic classes, as well as our focus on the arts provides the foundation for life-long learners. In an effort to educate the whole child, we also address the physical needs of our students through championship sports teams.

In addition to our comprehensive curriculum, the Academy received IB (International Baccalaureate) authorization for the PYP (Primary Years Program) in Oct.2013. Our next step is to become an Authorized IB World School that offers the MYP (Middle Years Program) as well.  Students involved in IB studies will acquire the skills to live and work in a rapidly growing globalizing world. Our outstanding faculty and staff are committed to the integration of the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of all students aiding them in becoming persons of integrity.  Here at Phillips Academy, character really does count!
