Minor Elementary is a K-5 Title I school operating within the Birmingham City Schools System with an enrollment of approximately 550 students. Most students are zoned to attend Minor, however, some students receive voluntary transfers or attend Minor pending a residence investigation. Minor School’s program includes the Alabama Reading Initiative. The staff consists of a full-time principal, a full-time counselor, and a full-time library / media specialist. The teaching staff consists of 35 teachers, three of whom have achieved National Board certification.

Our student population consists of 98% African-American and 2% Hispanic.

Minor is located in the Ensley Highlands neighborhood and draws its students from this community and from certain parts of adjacent neighborhoods in the western area of the city.
