Principal, Green Acres Middle School
1220 67th Street Ensley | Birmingham, Al 35228
Hello Mustang Family,
It is with immense pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Green Acres Middle School. It is my privilege and honor to join your mustang community where Choices Equal Success. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing with our amazing students, teachers, parents, and community members.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than eighteen years, with a specific concentration on literacy development, and enrichment opportunities for children. For the past four years, I have served in the role of Assistant Principal under the leadership of several outstanding principals. I have also served as a Reading Coach and taught Kindergarten, Third, and Fourth Grades for many years at various Birmingham City Schools.
I believe in all children, and I believe learning should be fun and engaging. As we embark on a new school year, as a new team, I look forward to working with each of you to build on the accomplishments you have achieved, as well as to set and exceed new goals. When we set high expectations for learning in a nurturing, positive environment, children thrive and feel successful. My goal is to ensure that every student is provided the highest quality education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment. Working together as a team with our staff, parents, and community, I am committed to helping each student achieve their absolute best. Every student is valued and worthy of our best efforts.
I view education as a life-long process and expect that I will continue to learn much about the uniqueness of Green Acres. Most importantly, I take a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to supporting our students. The relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, and I encourage you to become involved in every way possible.
I hope you enjoy your summer break and I’m looking forward to a great school year. Let’s plan to make next year exciting and extremely rewarding for each student, as we implement positive incentives to soar even higher. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tarria Walters, Ed. S.
