Greetings Parents and Scholars,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Malachi Wilkerson Middle School. I am Micah G. Kemp, a twenty-eight-year professional educator and proud product of Birmingham City Schools. This opportunity to serve you is personal to me as a graduate of Carrie A. Tuggle K-8 School, and the prestigious Arthur Harold Parker High School. This is a full circle moment as I return to the community that provided my strong educational foundation. I am honored and delighted to serve the Malachi Wilkerson Middle School Family. I am committed to supporting the level of excellence that exists within our Malachi Wilkerson Middle School structure that includes parents/guardians, scholars, staff, and community partners. We will engage in professional communication and transparency as a continuing foundation of excellence.

Our goal at MWMS is to obtain a thorough understanding of the strengths, challenges, and opportunities that exist within our school community. We will use our findings to create a holistic and nurturing approach that will lead to a conducive learning environment.

As a servant leader, I offer these seven principles of servant leadership: authenticity, effective communication, transparency/integrity, empathy, empowerment, continuous improvement, and making the needs of MWMS a priority. Through these seven principles, I will work to attain and maintain an environment of academic proficiency and school safety. However, this can only work if we are all vested in the success of our MWMS scholars. Our collaboration is vital and pivotal in the continuing progress of our MWMS journey.

Please call the main office to arrange conferences and to address any questions or concerns. My door is open to you. Remember, “When we work together, We WIN”!

Kind regards,

Mr. Micah G. Kemp, Ed.S.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am Mr. Brandon A. Davis, school administrator here at Malachi Wilkerson Middle School. I am a product of Birmingham City Schools, ranking in the top ten of my high school class and was elected senior class president. I am an alumnus of Miles College, where I graduated cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary English/Language Arts, and Walden University, where I graduated summa cum laude, with a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership & Administration. Also, I am currently enrolled in the Ph.D. in Educational Management program at Hampton University.

I discovered my calling to teach at a very young age and realized that I possessed a passionate desire to inspire and illuminate the minds of others, through sharing the power of knowledge. As an educator, I believe that each and every child is more than capable of learning. However, it takes a competent, courageous and caring educator to cultivate what's already inside of them. During my tenure with Birmingham City Schools, I have served as an English/language arts, writing, reading and technology teacher. I have also served in several other capacities, including instructional leadership team member, P.E./U.A. team lead, PBIS team lead, school safety coordinator, 504 team member and Peer Helpers co-facilitator. Now, I have the privilege of serving as a school administrator, and I am excited to be a part of the Bison Nation!
