Ms. Mawusi Coleman

Hi! I am the Reading Coach and ARI (Alabama Reading Initiative) Coach at Inglenook.

Mawusi Coleman has dedicated her career to both military service and education. She has served as a 92Y Unit Supply Specialist in Logistics in the military for over 11 years, continuing to contribute in this role to the present day.

Academically, Mawusi holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Miles College and a Master of Arts in Special Education, specializing in Cross-Category Special Education for ages Birth-21.

Her teaching career spans from 2002 to 2023, during which she worked in Birmingham City Schools. As of December 2023, she has taken on the role of Local Reading Specialist with the Alabama Reading Initiative, continuing her commitment to improving education and literacy in her community.

A devoted mother, Mawusi enjoys spending quality time with her family, balancing her professional responsibilities with her personal life.
